Non-Profit Partners Wanted!

The Michigan Brewers’ Guild Summer Festival is seeking non-profit partners to provide volunteer services in exchange for a financial contribution. This is a beer tasting festival at Riverside Park in Ypsilanti – Friday and Saturday July 21 and 22. If you are involved with a non-profit organization with more volunteers than cash and are looking for a fun way to raise some funds, read on! This could also be a project for a social club or volunteer club. Individuals may also volunteer and will be compensated with a festival pass rather than a group donation (Friday volunteers will receive a Saturday pass, Saturday volunteers will receive a Friday pass secured with a credit card). We have some jobs that are appropriate for youth volunteers and others that require volunteers who are 21 or over. We have not yet finalized appropriate donation amounts for the various services but will work with interested organizations on a one-on-one basis to come up with a mutually beneficial compensation arrangement. Here is what we’re looking for (each task could be handled by a separate organization so you wouldn’t need to come up with hundreds of volunteers!: -Festival Set-up and Tear-Down (40-50 Volunteer shifts) -Thursday, July 20 – 10-12 people for 4-5 hours to put up snow fencing and set up tables and chairs -Friday, July 21 – 4 people from 3-5 to set up trash cans, water stations, help distribute ice, etc -Friday, July 21 – clean-up crew to walk the park starting at 9:00 pm and pick up trash left from the festival and empty the trash cans. This could be anywhere from 4-12 people – the more people, the faster the clean-up -Saturday July 22 - 4 people from 10-12 to set up trash cans, water stations, help distribute ice, etc -Saturday, July 22 – clean-up crew to walk the park starting at 6:00 PM and pick up trash left from the festival and empty the trash cans. This could be anywhere from 4-12 people – the more people, the faster the clean-up -Saturday, July 22 – tear-down crew to take down snow fencing and stack tables and chairs. This could be anywhere from 10 or more people – the more people, the faster the clean-up -Table Stewards (Must be 21) Table stewards will each be assigned 5-6 tables to monitor. Their job is to ensure that festival rules are being followed at their tables (proper pour amounts, tokens being taken for all pours, no unauthorized persons behind the tables, no intoxicated persons being served, etc). Training will be provided. Breaks will be provided. Table stewards will not be permitted to drink while they are working or during their breaks but will be invited to a volunteer party. -Friday, July 21 - 10 stewards needed 4:30 – 9:00 -Saturday, July 22 – 12 stewards needed 11:30 – 6:00. -Beer Pourers (Must be 21) You do not need to provide all 80 pourers per shift but can sign up for a number that works for your organization. Beer pourers will be assigned 2 to a table to take tokens and pour beer samples. They are also expected to ensure that festival rules are being followed at their table (proper pour amounts, tokens being taken for all pours, no unauthorized persons behind the tables, no intoxicated persons being served, etc). Training will be provided. Breaks will be provided. Beer pourers will not be permitted to drink while they are working or during their breaks but will be invited to a volunteer party. -Friday, July 21 – 80 pourers needed 4:30 – 9:00 -Saturday, July 22 – 80 pourers needed 11:30 – 6:00.
